    Rikkyo University Homestay

    Brunei-Japan Friendship Association (BJFA) with the help of Bersatu, will be hosting students from Rikkyo University, Japan from 5-10th March.

    Bersatu is involved in organising the homestay portion of the visit. We're still looking for host families so if anyone is interested, please email Hajah Rohayati on rohayatiad@brunet.bn .

    20th SIGA Registration Deadlines


    A reminder to everyone who wants to register for this year's SIGA:


    29th February for early bird fee USD175

    1st-31st March for registration fee of USD195 and

    15th April for registration fee of USD225.


    If you still don't have the registration form you can download here.

    Complete the registration form and email it back to me at fakhri@doctors.org.uk before the deadlines. I will make contact with all those who have registered regarding payment. The most important thing is registration before the deadline for now.

    Activities at Kampong Subok and Kampong Pudak

    To cap off a very busy weekend for Bersatu, our members were invited by the Majlis Perundingan Subok and Pudak for activities in their Kampongs on Sunday 17th February. A television crew were there for the activities to showcase in a Youth Telethon to be shown on National Day (23rd February (1-3PM))

    The days events started with a morning trek up Bukit Keramunting in Kampong Subok....

    Kampong Pudak beckoned in the afternoon.... There were many activities, including how to cook ardam, penyaram, ambuyat; how to make kelupis and the triangular ketupat; playing congkak and darts as well as kayakking, and for some a spot of swimming....

    Welcome Party for BPY2007

    On Friday 15th February 2008, Bersatu held a Welcome Back Party for its newest members, BPY2007. It was held at the Yussof Service Apartments at Batu Satu.

    Hiking at Bukit Keramunting, Subok and Visit to Kg Pudak

    Bersatu in conjunction with the Majlis Perundingan Kampong Subok will be organising a hike up Bukit Keramunting in Kampong Subok this Sunday 17th February 2008. The hike will include a planned visit to a "wasai" and lunch on top of the hill. Anyone interested to join should assemble at the Ketua Kampong's House in Jalan Subok (Simpang 287) by 8.30 am.

    At 3 PM, Bersatu will also be organising a visit to Kampong Pudak on the same day. Anyone interested to join along, just contact me on 8771978.

    These visits will be filmed by Radio Television Brunei for the National Day Telethon focusing on Youth Activities in Brunei. Everyone is welcome to attend.

    USD 175 before 29th February

    Registration includes three nights accomodation at the Cebu City Waterfront Hotel and includes meals.

    Discussion at De Other Office Cafe & Bistro

    On Saturday, 16th February, Bersatu in conjunction with D' Other Office Bistro and Cafe held a discussion session with the topic "Peranan Bekas Kapal Belia Asia Tenggara di dalam Pembangunan Tunas Bangsa" or "The Role of Ex-PYs of SSEAYP in Nation Building". The discussion was in conjunction with Brunei's 24th National Day and examined our roles after SSEAYP.


    The discussion session hopes to kickstart a series of monthly sessions aimed at youth improvement and tackling various issues. Information about upcoming sessions will be disseminated soon.

    Charity Fundraiser in Conjunction with 20 Year Anniversary of Bersatu

    In conjunction with Bersatu's 20th Anniversary, the Association has decided to organise a charity fundraiser on the 24th of May 2008. The objective of the event is to raise funds to help needy children education Fund.

    The Secretariat will be open on Monday 11th February from 5-7pm at Bersatu Headquarters. Committee members are invited to come to do any preparation work.

    20th SIGA in Cebu, Philippines information

    We're still waiting for the registration form from SSEAYP International Philippines (SIP). However, below is confirmed information from SIP.

    Please note that all registration from Brunei will go through Bersatu. We will then forward the registration to SIP. Any questions please email fakhri@doctors.org.uk . I will inform everyone once we have the registration form.

    PARTICIPATION FEE
    USD 175.00 / pax (Early birds fee until February 29, 2008)
    USD 195.00 / pax (Regular registration fee from March 1 – March 31, 2008)
    USD 225.00 / pax (Registration fee from April 1 – April 15, 2008)
    USD 135.00 / pax (Children 5 years old and below)
    *After April 15, 2008, SIP shall not entertain any registration

    CANCELLATION RULES
    Before February 29, 2008 - No Charge

    MEALS

    Transportation will be provided for all SIGA itineraries, including airport transfer

    HOMESTAY
    Our sincere apologies, due to logistical limitations, we cannot offer Homestay after May 4, 2008
    TOUR PACKAGES

    Various tour packages before and after the conference may be organized for willing travelers. Secretariat Committee will post the tour packages very soon.

    INSURANCE
    All participants are advised to obtain the necessary insurance during the entire stay in Cebu City
    VISA
    All nationalities (Japan & Asean) need not apply for a travel visa to enter the Philippines

    IMPORTANT NOTICES
    1) No Homestay during the duration of SIGA 2008 Cebu (May 1 – 4, 2008)2) We will not accept any walk-in registration during the duration of SIGA 2008 Cebu3) No selective participation, we strongly encourage everyone to attend all SIGA 2008 Cebu Activities & Itineraries4) If anyone decide to attend only selected activities, he/she will be charged the full registration fee of USD 195.00
